The 1939–40 New York World’s Fair was  held at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park and it was the second most expensive American world’s fair of all time.  The lake, currently named Meadow Lake, was originally named Fountain Lake (we wonder what happened to the fountains that are illustrated in the map?). Just as there were many wonders in the Park then there remains many wonderful places to explore today (and don’t forget Willow Lake the home of many species of critters).
